Co-Existence Of Life

(Good and Evil Continues)

The contemporary age of technology has brought convenience in the transmission of ideas to people in a wider scope. The transmission of communications can either have positive or negative effects. Nonetheless, we use this kind of communication tool for fast and easy transfer of message. The trend today is to go with online communication, that is through networking.

There are hundreds of networking sites inside the web; they are just waiting for your spiders to crawl them and discover. Other NW sites are limited to or cater a specific group only (but all groups are well represented throughout the net; just search for the group which you feel better to belong with). Friendster was once a popular networking site in the Philippines, but Facebook took over the lead in later parts of 2002. Of course Twitter, Mybloglog, and Friend Connect has also established their respective niches in the windows of bloggers and networking savvys.

Looking into the deeper context of networking, I encountered this message from my professor, a friend (also a facebook friend). “The world is divided into two opposite poles...black or white...happy or sad...rich or poor...beautiful or ugly...good or bad...same in a relationship...she wants to sleep in bed...you want on the floor...she said I hate you...you said I love you...she said I forgive...you said it hurts...puzzling...”

This thought may appear as one simple line, but taking a closer look can directly tell you that this is the very essence of life's existence here on Earth.

Technology and other life's advancements rose because of the development of person's life which rooted from the natural elements. And these elements are classified into two major classes; Good and Evil. From the very minute that man had lived on Earth, there are already two forces that driven him to move and act as he journey his life. These forces are always opposing with each other. And it is already a given fact of life.

These two groups co-exist with each other, and we cannot define one without the contrasting existence of the other. These is the very reason underlying the presence of so much definitions of things, actions, words of languages...and anything that surrounds us. But whatever “term/s” we want them to be called, they may either closely associated with these two forces- Good and Evil.

The development of the perceptions of what is good and evil rooted from the previous generations. In was then passed on through several generations who embraces these concepts and beliefs. However, this writer believes that along the way, as the concepts were handed from generation to the other, there were refinement to these concepts that happened. Worst the refinement is thought to be as the same as the original one.

Thus the present society had just embraced what has been handed down by the previous generation. Many, if not all, are following such concepts without knowing the reasons why it is being practiced. Sad-truth for us. And the saddest of them all, Philippines has the greater percentage of this kind of followers. The passive culture of Filipinos regarding faith, that they cannot even describe the reasons about their faith, continues to block the country from the lights of truth.

What we need today is to reconcile with nature, and to understand ourselves; to better define the meaning of goodness from evil. And we must accept the fact that these two maintains the balance of nature, no one will exist without the other.
