Though I can't force myself to wake up early as I wish, I see to it that I can catch up to those persons who woke up before me and share a pie in the day's activities. I'm sure I won't go home empty handed, with experiences and fun before I finally close the day. As other people would brag to the rest of the world what have they done for a particular day or for the rest of their lives, I bother not to. It's no sense to tell them to everyone. I don't even care on what's happening unto the lives of others, no matter how they're doing with theirs; so why enumerate mine. I respect territorial, or should I say, personal jurisdiction.

When we get out from our respective homes, we meet people. Crossing the bridges (I actually mean the overpass) we bump various personalities - even the natives, those are begging for alms, whose ancestors were presumably sold the whole island for those pieces of jewelry – which now considered as the great myth of this part of the world for lack of concrete evidence. Before I forget, wandering on streets makes us get some unexpected acquaintances; and before you can finally get back from your senses, you're already caught for 'jaywalking'.

We always have this in mind that we should not judge people base on how we see, as we meet them, but I guess their actions that we repeatedly observe to these persons, on what they have been doing, can lead us to some conclusions. We do meet people not only because we want to meet them. More often we meet personalities that we wish we haven't met them along the pathways of human life, but we can do nothing about that.

There were also times that we can see individuals fighting to survive out of the life's challenges. However there are those who uses different ways just to be leveled with others in surviving these challenges. It's not actually on being proud that you have survived the war, but on how you saved your-life out of that war.

We want to meet people. We respect them, We continue to respect them if they deserve to be respected.

We meet people. We respect them. We don't want to meet them again (various reasons need to be supplied here).

Next time you meet people, whoever they are, wherever you may be, by the time somebody asks questions or post challenges before you, never think to survive and give them scratch answers (or at least do not ask for a scratched[used] paper).

Hail ye my generation!

Hail ye my generation!
Born thinkers of freedom.

In the fast changing pace of society;
We dare to achieve equality,
In voice, position and quest for liberty.
To achieve a balance and participative community.

Hail ye my generation!
Born activists.

Managed to cross the borders of societal limits;
Criticized by moralists.
We believed into rational actions
Better than hypocrites.

Hail ye my generation!
Born to rational decisions.

We hate to follow unreasonable justifications;
Much more those having instant decisions.
We love courage to do beyond the usual things,
Others do not, therefore, we're daring.

Hail ye my generation!
Born bold and wild.

We raise our middle fingers
..to those pretenders of righteousness;
..to believers of ungrounded ethics;
..to faithfuls of unfounded beliefs.

Reymund's Creed

This personal creed was submitted to my Ethics class:

I believe in the supreme being, creator and ruler of the universe.

I believe in the equality of the voice of men - young and old, who, at the same time, hold equal footage on Earth, classified only by age. It is a test of a person's ability to work for things he is ought to do. It's not with how many individuals have you slain along your way, but it is with how far have you done in the course of the performance of your work.

There are living individuals who are very much pleased of the merits and recognitions they reaped as they are moving towards the ages of their lives. However, most of these men didn't realize that they may be just a big fish in a small pond. Most of us are fascinated when receiving an award, but we do not look into the deeper meaning of recognition; we may be a meritorious person among the non performers.

In every work that was tasked to us, performance matters. We do not work to finish a task; we work to aim that we can make great things. Doing your part is not enough. Tapping the other person, but with no avail, will never be accepted as a reason. Take initiative. Output matters; doing your best for a lack of output expected in you could not offset the reality that you are a 'non performing.'

Plato and other early learned men of this world framed the concept of an ideal society. Various theories had came out throughout the ages about how should we view an ideal society. Of these theories, none has been reached as time changes. They remain as visions, and therefore, never realized.

Our world is blessed of many individuals who are trying to create a community that will serve the best interest of the greater number (of individuals). However, a much greater number of individuals are just contented with the way they do things, yet they want to be somebody. If you want to achieve something; work for it. If you do not perform your job, you deserve to fall (this is what we call real justice – to give the person what is due to him).

James Thurber hoped for the achievement of Human Dignity and of a better men, which were both a failure, for the ages that had passed. I say, A hope for a better men will never be an achievement of the majority because majority of men are living in mediocrity.

Abnormality Concept

(misconception saga continues...)
part 2 of the many

(My blood pressure did not rise up, but I have my adrenaline rush)

We are born in the world where living individuals are grouped, classified, and segregated according to the concept designed by majority of men. There are rules and norms identified to be the best practices for a man to follow and to be called an ideal person, which I found so-good-to-be-true. What are the basis of identifying good practices from bad anyway? All I know is, as long as you are not stepping into the other person's feet, or you know the boundaries of your right (like as you sway your hands; the freedom to sway those hands ends at the tip of the other person's nose) you are good.

This is the simplest form of goodness I know, in fact the Golden rule is patterned from this concept (whether you believe me or not, I'll stay with this faith). Men in its very nature are keen to notice the mistakes committed by others. I believe walking on a different path is a great adventure to carry, and taking the risk to cross the boarders which anybody never tried to, can never be wrong, it's daring.

Abnormality is described as an unusual event which man expected to happen; It is also an extra or lack of a particular parts of the person, whether external or internal; It is an unusual action and approach a person is applying on things and undertakings he makes, different from what the majority considers as the standards of applications in life. These “standards” are often the cause of all complications in life because the world today is over crowded with norms, and specially-designed policies to advance the campaign for the goodness of man. But man as a natural-born good individual do not need these complicated standards to remain good in his present state. The golden rule is very simple; all we need is to observe and religiously apply it in our lives.

Basing from the definition of abnormality, a man can either be normal or abnormal depending on which part of the spectrum he belongs. If he belongs to the other end, he is normal in the eyes and perception of his group, but he's abnormal in the views of the other camp, and vice versa. A person can never have a constant perception from people around him. He can never claim that he is like this and can never be like that. A reminder to everyone who believes that he is righteous and what he does are only the good ones.

We should further realize that we are not exactly the same as any other human beings. We may be have similarities, but we differ in the totality of our being. We may be in the same group at a particular area, but in some aspects we may also be located in a different field of classification. Thus, it is safe to say that Abnormality should not be used for classification of every creation, rather a positive description; that every person has its own life to build, and that whatever he wants to do with it, it is his discretion until he steps at your feet where your discretionary power is impaired (this time you need to act for yourself).

Daily Interactions - Misinterpretation

(Part 1 of the Many)

I have this usual thoughts in mind that the major I have is one of those misinterpreted college degrees. I laugh at those people giving out these attached – labels, usually associated with radical actions, to students of Political Science.

I remember one of my relatives (prior to college entrance) lambasting me with her words saying, “Why should you not take up Nursing?” I don't bother to answer, it's my choice, good thing my parents have been very supportive to me though I can see they don't like me to take up this major. You know how chaotic the Philippines' politics is. PolSci students are associated with rallies and activism, so on.

All they know is you have to take up this major as a preparatory for a higher degree – Law. In some instance this could be true, but there are more good things other than this (I just don't know if everybody sees it the why I do). Maybe it is just a typical res gestae of a human beings to always giving his opinions without looking into the veracity of the facts that will support his opinion (Which I hate the most. Even columnists are committing this heinous crime). I suggest they should have looked into the copies of the curriculum before they gave their opinions. However, I did see friends who quitted from the program because they said, “they are disappointed seeing the political scenario of the country – Philippines.” I am thinking, they really are not into the profession so to speak.

To formally start the arguments, Political Science is not all about studying the defects of the governments, the politicians' lifestyle and all. Politics in a broader sense is not about running and eventually, winning in the elections. It is the day to day interaction between and among people living in the same environment as an organized individuals forming a civil community. It is understanding the behavior of all actors in the civil society. It deals more on the Philosophy of co-existence of all living individuals. Yes, we are radical, but not the way you define the word per se. It's a matter of definition (according to one of my professors). We are radical because we want to extract the ideas why we are having this way of living, the practices that we have and their justifications. Have we ever imagine how stupid we are following these ways without knowing their origins? And if you happen to ask yourself, you don't know where to find the answer (what would they say? Have faith?) We want to extract the very reason of existence applying it in ourselves to become better citizens of this world.

Definitely, it's not all about corruption in the government, it is more on the reconstruction of the government (note: Government is not the same as the “Administration”). It's all about people's participation in the maintenance of order.

And it so happened that my family sustained my craft in this field (and they want me to finish the law degree), of course with reservations which I don't literally give attention. The point here is, we give a talk not because we want to, but because we have something to talk about (with substance).
To be continued when my blood boils up again...See yah!

Ode of the Wisdom of the Word

(I'm converting my thoughts into "lyrical"; trying to be poetic..this time)

When Nature starts to Speak;
Listen.
When Daybreak Unfolds;
Witness.
When the Sun Sets,
and the Moon Rises;
Be Vigilant.

Ages sees no Old or Young
Dates are numbered
For a Man to speak is none
Defy the Days that you were told,
“Quiet and Listen you Don't Belong;
You're Young.
You Don't Know what is Right from Wrong.”

Before, You asked them for their basis
They gave you nothing, not even a single one.
You Follow, because they wanted you,
But Today is neither History nor Mystery;
This is a Gift, It's Present.

Listen.
Witness.
Be Vigilant.
Speak to the World with what You think is Right;
History of unfounded Traditions will be changed,
Mystery will be unfolded.

Shout To The World
And The Seas Will Roar
You Accepted The Gift
And Dared to be Different.

Social Ethics

Is it the real standard? (Explained)

Man fears anything associated with death. The quest for survival and self-preservation is one of the innate characteristics of man. Since death is considered the end of the physical survival of every mortal being, man will search and will continue searching for solutions in order to preserve life. Peace and order are incidental in the course of the “social contract” entered into by the community of prudent individuals. It's just like this, our primary goal is to survive; peace and order are subsidiaries.

The first time I heard about “social contract” was with Thomas Hobbes. It was through this “social contract” that an artificial man is created. It exercises natural strength and defense power to maintain the survival of the higher species in the intellectual kingdom (humans). Peace and Order are implied in the duties and powers of the Leviathan in carrying out its expressed purpose and nature. Man, in this case, created an artificial man to advance his goal.

This is the very reason why laws are created, and regulations are approved and implemented -the hard laws. However as creative and imaginative being, man had also formulated norms, beliefs, and actions (soft laws) to further strengthen his capacity to survive (a normal reaction for an insecure person). And since the time of its (soft law) conception, people has religiously followed those ideas without getting back to the reasons why they keep on practicing these things. All they know is, this is the good (holy) way to live life.

The cycle continues, modern man is hypnotized by, and is practicing vanity with, ethics. The soft laws had been inked and converted into hard laws; others remain as they are, but seems like the same either. So many rules to follow already, and it's getting complicated. We cannot follow three (or more) fabricated rules at the same time.

There is a saying, you cannot solve a problem by creating another one. This too follows the premise; We cannot get away from chaos by creating chaotic rules. There are no excuses, there are no accidents, everything happens for a reason. We must find that reason. Balance of nature will tell you that to balance the problem there is a solution :-) . Believe!

This writer agrees that laws should be flexible with times and the manner of the situations that are rising. However, he argues that such principle will apply most to trade, commerce, industries and governmental relations, state-citizens interactions and technical regulation of citizen-citizen dealings (civic relations) which are generally hard laws.

How about with those so-called soft law? Make it simple with this principle, “Don't touch me, I won't touch you.”

*Leviathan is what we call the “state” or the “government” at present.
Man has two types, natural and artificial.
Natural - those who were born physically from the mother's womb
Artificial – those are created by laws or articles of incorporation such as the state and its political subdivisions, government owned and controlled corporations and private entities and corporations.

Co-Existence Of Life

(Good and Evil Continues)

The contemporary age of technology has brought convenience in the transmission of ideas to people in a wider scope. The transmission of communications can either have positive or negative effects. Nonetheless, we use this kind of communication tool for fast and easy transfer of message. The trend today is to go with online communication, that is through networking.

There are hundreds of networking sites inside the web; they are just waiting for your spiders to crawl them and discover. Other NW sites are limited to or cater a specific group only (but all groups are well represented throughout the net; just search for the group which you feel better to belong with). Friendster was once a popular networking site in the Philippines, but Facebook took over the lead in later parts of 2002. Of course Twitter, Mybloglog, and Friend Connect has also established their respective niches in the windows of bloggers and networking savvys.

Looking into the deeper context of networking, I encountered this message from my professor, a friend (also a facebook friend). “The world is divided into two opposite poles...black or white...happy or sad...rich or poor...beautiful or ugly...good or bad...same in a relationship...she wants to sleep in bed...you want on the floor...she said I hate you...you said I love you...she said I forgive...you said it hurts...puzzling...”

This thought may appear as one simple line, but taking a closer look can directly tell you that this is the very essence of life's existence here on Earth.

Technology and other life's advancements rose because of the development of person's life which rooted from the natural elements. And these elements are classified into two major classes; Good and Evil. From the very minute that man had lived on Earth, there are already two forces that driven him to move and act as he journey his life. These forces are always opposing with each other. And it is already a given fact of life.

These two groups co-exist with each other, and we cannot define one without the contrasting existence of the other. These is the very reason underlying the presence of so much definitions of things, actions, words of languages...and anything that surrounds us. But whatever “term/s” we want them to be called, they may either closely associated with these two forces- Good and Evil.

The development of the perceptions of what is good and evil rooted from the previous generations. In was then passed on through several generations who embraces these concepts and beliefs. However, this writer believes that along the way, as the concepts were handed from generation to the other, there were refinement to these concepts that happened. Worst the refinement is thought to be as the same as the original one.

Thus the present society had just embraced what has been handed down by the previous generation. Many, if not all, are following such concepts without knowing the reasons why it is being practiced. Sad-truth for us. And the saddest of them all, Philippines has the greater percentage of this kind of followers. The passive culture of Filipinos regarding faith, that they cannot even describe the reasons about their faith, continues to block the country from the lights of truth.

What we need today is to reconcile with nature, and to understand ourselves; to better define the meaning of goodness from evil. And we must accept the fact that these two maintains the balance of nature, no one will exist without the other.

After Birth: The Human Development

(Man Is Naturally, Good vs. Evil)

The birth of an individual is the start of his journey in this planet. His development is a continuous interaction with his environment and constant quest for survival. His characteristics are being honed, developed and defined as he traverse the roads of his being.

A night ago, I was caught in a conversation with my brother. We have this kind of philosophical conversation which happens occasionally whenever the muses are available. We often had topics about life and its applications. Since it is election season here in the Philippines, we keep on assessing the different characteristics of those persons eying the top posts in the government, and certainly we did include Iloilo's aspirant – the determined Mel (Mel Carreon). But hey, don't you say that we've forgotten other aspirants claiming themselves as Ilonggos, we didn't (in Philippine politics all politicians are keen to tracing there respective kins, then claim that they are from that place as well). Well, “Lakas Loob's” standard bearer Mel is far different from them, the man had the chance of running in the elections from the councilor's post and now it's the top post that he is after with( unfortunately he wins nothing from his previous elections). He keeps on asking me about them (politicians) since politics is not his thing according to him. But this scripts do not revolve in politics as I've said earlier. I will talk about human development in this chapter.

The conversation was cut with my brother changing the topic and raised a question, “Do you believe that man is naturally good or otherwise?” We got different views regarding this issue. But if you think that because I am an advocate of defying man's social beliefs that it took me to choose “man is naturally evil,” then you're wrong. I believe that man is naturally good. However, my brother has faith on the other theory - “Man is naturally evil.” And since this is my article, I prefer not to discuss his arguments here...I will discuss my contentions instead.

Let's start from the very basic. Forget the influential society. Society was just formed because of individuals.

The child in the mother's womb is good, free from the influence of the outside environment. By the time the baby is freed, the moment he is born, his mind is still under the control of the good characteristics. However as the child feels that he has now the freedom to breath and move, his brain will start to make him think about self-preservation. The first environmental influences will initially set in – food and air. With his body calling for self-preservation, the child reacts in various ways in order to transmit a message that he is hungry for this, that he needs comfort to live his life (this is the initial stage for the baby to adapt a very small percentage of bad traits). As the child grows older, meeting others, he started grabbing the toys of his playmates to satisfy his desires..other traits also include actions in relation to food, clothing and other basic life needs. The child is subconsciously doing simple evil deeds. The once pure good creature is now a mixture of predominantly good and a little bit evil. The process continues as he grows older and become adult. And those who were dominated by their environmentally - acquired evil traits became what the present society calls “Evils in the society” and those people who possesses the dominance of good characteristics are called the good ones, though they are not totally good...they have few touches of evils shall I say.

And as the population grows, the society develops. Good is distinguished, so as evil is defined. Laws, norms and concepts of morality is developed by different societies. These were all formed to regain the natural goodness of man.

Man is naturally good, you cannot find a plain individual who will accept that what he is doing is the wrong thing. He always believes that what he is doing is right. Excuses and alibis are just few manifestations that man doesn't want himself to be associated with evil, because he believes that he is naturally good.

Lastly, but I don't want to embrace this idea of the religious folks, God created man according to his image, and character and being. Many, if not all of us, believes that God is undoubtedly good. And if God created man in accordance to his image and character... Man is naturally good, according to the bible. However, I want to extract myself from giving out this kind of reason. It's my faith that anybody who uses the “Holy Scriptures” to advance his arguments is the one who wants an easy way to explaining life's existence. There was no fruitful conversation about the said issue if I simply used this kind of reasoning.

The Birth: A Reflection

Speaking about life, we need to start talking about nothing more than its beginning; the birth of its existence. How these things had started has been documented and preserved by the past, in order for the present and the future to understand the essence of their whole being. History is indeed part of one's life that cannot be avoided. It connects your life with your past and leads you to track the path towards your desired direction.

We also cannot deny the fact that history itself is the root af all that are happening in our present state. Our norms, movements and concepts of morality are based from what others have done before. It is a compilation of ideas of what were happening to those people who came before us. Their struggles and aspirations led to coming up with what are we having and following today. We've learned from them, and the metamorphosis of life will continue like this to the infinity as the world continues to travel through time.

But wait, before you finally find out yourself embracing the royalty of history in your life, try to twist its pages and see the other side of it. While it is a known fact that history helps a lot in order to know almost the totality of the worlds identity, it is also a known knowledge that as stories traveled through time, additions and omissions are happening along the way. And before it reaches to its initial destination (which is the present period; and initial because it will again travel to future generations if it will not suffer its own natural death) a new story, little bit similar to the original one, is already formulated. And you got it, it is the same newly develop story that most, if not all, of us keeps on believing and worst applied in our respective lives.

However, this writer will then again emphasize the keyword “RESPECT.” Whether you believe that what are you following is the right one or not, it's up for you...and I respect that. What I am trying to highlight in this readings are the following: Why not try investigating about these socially - accepted principles. Though they are sort of soft laws, they are the ones that religiously followed by people acting in the society compared to various municipal laws (considering that both are products of the same actors in the society); Why swallow the ideas which are bitter pills? Don't say that you can do nothing about it, that it already existed prior to your existence in this planet..definitely you have your way out.

Existing Ideas, Beliefs, Norms, whatever you call the others are all products of social formation-formulations of the past coupled with massive promotions and eventually accepted by the majority. Why not you give a start at your end, investigate, learn, formulate, and promote (don't just simply accept the outputs from the past, do the inputs for the future).

Our Fight And Aspirations

The very minute we talk about life, we mean meeting people. In politics in means interaction among groups of people, or shall we say good interaction of one with the greater number of people to attain the greatest glory in the political arena. Almost tree years ago when I graduated from a baccalaureate degree with specialization in the study of politics I was very eager to pursue a new dimension of life as I am about to join the world of promising young men that will be responsible in shaping the would be better Philippines.

Life is indeed a roller coaster and full of directions that we need to follow, we must think the consequences of the steps that we are about to take. And to eradicate all the “what if's” in my mind, I dare to take a track to follow. Planning is really essential for me.. and in every planning there is always a plan A and plan B (maybe a plan C will also work for you). I took up the Law School Admission Test in one of the law schools in this highly urbanized southern city, and eventually enrolled myself, and after two years of memorizing those letters encrypted in codes and R.A's, I decided to try my plan B, compromising to myself that once the plan B will soon be realized plan A shall be given limelight and should be done no matter what. Going back to the so-called “Plan B,” I inquired about this program, and at that very moment took the qualifying exam and undergone an interview; Reason why this article was also submitted in the CAS-Graduate School Publication- “the Pinnacle”, written by no one else, but me..I enrolled in the Master in Public Governance Degree of the College of Arts and Sciences Graduate School of West Visayas State University.

As any other young men with vibrant aspirations to the future of this country that many said to be worth dying for, we need trained men and women to run the governmental processes with at most diligence as a good father of the family, and adhere to the basic yet sacred principle that a public service is a public trust. Moreover, in the course of fulfilling this dream, a revolutionary mind shall act in order to defer the acts of negative manipulation and the use of other people for name and glory sake. Remember, the necessity for the triumph of evil is when good men do nothing.

The advocacy for change is everybody's word of the mouth, but if we keep on talking without doing anything, it will always remain as the favorite topic in coffee shops, and all corners wherever there is a political discussion. We need to translate our vision into reality, vision with action can definitely change the world. But reality bites. As long as there are corrupted minds (wanting more power, wealth and influence) still existing, and we have not totally washed them out from the map or may be out-numbered them, the status quo will remain.

This is the fact, and I must say this, older generations are very much involve in educating my generation to do this and that, saying what are the best practices to take in the improvement of the country for the greater good of the greater number, but present situation we are experiencing is not an output of my generation, it is the output of their generation. Have they follow their strategies before, there could be change even if its just an inch difference from the past. The formulation of the success of tomorrow lies in my generation, and the conceptualization must come from us, because it is our tomorrow that depends on the present. The output of the older generation will be a reflection to consider in the the conceptualization of new sets of theories, steps and strategies in the preparation of our future. The youth of today shall be freed from the controls of anybody, the opportunity for them is waiting. Give to the youth what is for the youth (not just the selected task).

The 2010 National and Local elections is nearer, the future of our national development will depend on the kind of leaders that we want to handle the jobs in the government. Our progress and downfall will start at the tip of your pen as you shade (if automation will truly be realized) or write (if manual poll will still be used) at the ballot.

The fight continues, wherever you are at in the political spectrum; if you think of a better Philippines the common denominator is good, effective and efficient delivery of public service to the sovereign Filipino people.

Contact Details

Under construction
Rest of Entry goes here!

The Author

Under construction
Rest of Entry goes here!
